SAN FRUTTUOSO di Camogli Between Camogli and Portofino, set in a deep cove along the indented coastline of the Portofino headland, there is the famous Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte located in the well-preserved hamlet with the same name. Used initially as a monastery, over the following centuries the San Fruttuoso site has housed in turn fishermen, pirates and lately the Princes of Doria: an incredible and absolutely unique place where the work of men has successfully integrated with the work of Nature. San Fruttuoso can be reached with a 2-hour walk along a well marked path or by boat using the traditional Portofino Water Taxis or the public ferry departing every day from Portofino’s harbour.
